New Beginnings

A Christian Guide to the 12 Steps – Addiction Recovery Method

“Do not remember the former things, Nor consider the things of old. Behold, I will do a new thing, Now it shall spring forth; Shall you not know it? I will even make a road in the wilderness And rivers in the desert.”
– ISAIAH 43:18-19 (NKJV)

New Beginnings is a faith-based recovery group dedicated to helping those who suffer from the disease of addiction and the families that are affected by these very same people. Our Goal and our mission is to eventually have a sober-living campus for men and women, who do not have a stable place to live, to come to and get their lives back on track while they build a relationship with God, are taught the Good News of the Gospel, and how we have a responsibility to share with others what God has done for us. We use the 12 steps of Alcoholics Anonymous as a guide to a program of recovery and focus on the need to develop our Spiritual walk because without JESUS we are nothing but LOST to our disease. If we could have changed it we would have already, it is only through knowing and trusting Him that we surrender our Will and our Life to His care.

The New Beginnings Recovery Class meets every Wednesday night at 6:30PM, upstairs in the middle classroom. We eat a short meal together, then dive right into heartfelt discussion about addiction and Jesus’s love in spite of our failures.

My name is Donnie L. Campbell, and I am a grateful recovering addict. I am 48 yrs old. I abused drugs and alcohol for many years. I have been to prison and lost a lot to my disease. In February of 2014, I was arrested for my fifth felony drug charge and was facing some serious prison time. I had given up on myself as a man. I felt like prison or the grave were the only things the future held for me. As I sat in my jail cell, I started to read my Bible. I read about the Israelites and how they kept turning away from God even though they saw the plagues in Egypt, the Red Sea part, manna to eat every day. And yet they still turned away from God. God showed me in that jail cell that I was like Israel. That all I had to do was repent and commit myself to His Will and that is exactly what I did. God changed me that night from the inside out, and I dedicated myself to Him and His work. It was here that the concept of “New Beginnings” was born. I promised God that I would share what He had done for me with other addicts and alcoholics and the families that are affected by this disease. I promised Him to not only just provide a service to get people clean but to build a discipleship program that would train others to spread the Good News of what Jesus Christ has done in our lives.

God bless you and yours,
